Best of the best: Meet Greater Fall River's Girls Soccer All-Scholastics: 



The fall of 2023 was a banner season for girls' soccer in Greater Fall River, with four local teams making it to the postseason and Westport achieving history by earning their first playoff win. The talent on display was nothing short of phenomenal, and the Herald News is proud to announce its 2023 Girls Soccer All-Scholastic teams.

These players are the cream of the crop, the ones who made their teams tick and left opponents scratching their heads. They're the goal scorers, the playmakers, the defenders who shut down the other team's best players, and the goalkeepers who made highlight-reel saves. They're the leaders, the heart and soul of their teams, and they're all deserving of this prestigious honor.



First Team

  • Korynne Holden, Westport: The 2023 Herald News Player of the Year, Holden led Westport to its best record since the program was revived in 2015. A dynamic scorer and playmaker, Holden had 25 goals and 10 assists this season.


  • Kylie Furtado, Diman: A dominant force in the midfield, Furtado was the engine that drove Diman to the Division 4 South Sectional semifinals. She had 10 goals and 15 assists this season.

  • Ava Rondeau, Case: A lockdown defender, Rondeau was the rock of the Case defense. She had 100 tackles and five interceptions this season.

  • Olivia Cabral, Somerset Berkley: A versatile player who could play anywhere on the field, Cabral was a key contributor to Somerset Berkley's Division 3 South Sectional championship run. She had 15 goals and five assists this season.



  • Maddy Ahern, Bishop Feehan: Ahern was a scoring machine for Bishop Feehan, netting 20 goals this season. She also had five assists.

  • Goalkeeper: Emma Furtado, Diman: Furtado made over 100 saves this season, helping Diman to the Division 4 South Sectional semifinals.

Second Team

  • Lily Pateakos, Case: Pateakos was a force in the midfield for Case, scoring 10 goals and dishing out five assists.

  • Abby Silvia, Westport: Silvia was a key defender for Westport, making 75 tackles and five interceptions this season.

  • Sydney Johnson, Somerset Berkley: Johnson was a do-it-all player for Somerset Berkley, contributing on both offense and defense. She had five goals and 10 assists this season.

  • Sophia Torres, Bishop Feehan: Torres was a shutdown defender for Bishop Feehan, making 80 tackles and five interceptions this season.

  • Molly Furtado, Diman: Furtado was a scoring threat for Diman, netting 15 goals this season.

  • Goalkeeper: Olivia Ferreira, Somerset Berkley: Ferreira made over 80 saves this season, helping Somerset Berkley to the Division 3 South Sectional championship.

Third Team

  • Mya Medeiros, Case: Medeiros was a solid defender for Case, making 50 tackles and three interceptions this season.

  • Ava Camara, Somerset Berkley: Camara was a defensive stalwart for Somerset Berkley, making 60 tackles and four interceptions this season.

  • Ella David, Bishop Feehan: David was a scoring threat for Bishop Feehan, netting 10 goals this season.

  • Lily Silvia, Diman: Silvia was a versatile player for Diman, contributing on both offense and defense. She had five goals and five assists this season.

  • Goalkeeper: Mackenzie Furtado, Diman: Furtado made over 50 saves this season, helping Diman to the Division 4 South Sectional semifinals.
