Friends' star Matthew Perry dies at age 54, reports say



Friends star Matthew Perry died at age 54 on October 29, 2023, according to reports. The cause of death is not yet known.

Perry was best known for his role as Chandler Bing on the NBC sitcom Friends, which aired from 1994 to 2004. He also starred in the films Fools Rush In (1997), Three to Tango (1999), and 17 Again (2009).

Perry struggled with addiction throughout his life. He checked into rehab for the first time in 1997 and again in 2001. In 2013, he opened up about his struggles in an interview with People magazine.



"I had a lot of anxiety when I was younger," Perry said. "I would drink or take Vicodin to try to calm myself down."

Matt LeBlanc, who played Joey Tribbiani on Friends, said in a statement, "I'm so sad to hear about the passing of Matthew Perry. We were friends for over 30 years. He was a great guy and a great actor. I'm going to miss him dearly."
